Wheat and Soy Allergy Alert: Tillamook Waffle Cone Swirl Ice Cream

May 31, 2023 - Due to undeclared wheat and soy, the Tillamook County Creamery Association is voluntarily recalling a small number of family-size 1.5 qt cartons of Tillamook Waffle Cone Swirl ice cream that were packaged in error in a carton for Tillamook Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream, lot TL-41-80, BB041324. Wheat and soy, which are not disclosed on the Chocolate Peanut Butter label, are included in the Waffle Cone Swirl ice cream. Consuming this product increases the chance of having a significant or even fatal allergic response for those who are sensitive to wheat or soy.

Only Safeway supermarkets in the state of Washington and some areas of northern Idaho supplied the ice cream in question, totaling no more than 1,440 containers.

The product in question is presented in a carton with a sidewall made of Tillamook Chocolate Peanut Butter and a lid made of Tillamook Waffle Cone Swirl. On the bottom of the carton are printed the concerned lot codes TL-41-80 and BB041324 (which stands for "best by date of 04/13/2024").

When a customer informed Tillamook that Waffle Cone Swirl ice cream was discovered inside the Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream container, the firm became aware of the mislabeling problem. No diseases or unfavorable responses have been reported to date.

The US Food and Drug Administration has been informed of this recall.

Customers who have purchased the impacted product but have a wheat or soy allergy or sensitivity are recommended not to consume it and to dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Customers may reach the business via email at hello@tillamook.com or by phone at 855-562-3568.
